We had a great time!
We stayed here -- in one of the Ridge Top villas -- for four nights last week and thought it was very comfortable and nice. The place was clean -- we were not in one of the newest units but the Ridge Top units are newer and very roomy.
We had a two bedroom villa that was supposed to have two baths but ours had three full baths. I think the one on the ground floor was handicapped accessible so that's why. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. It was a little worn but no worse than you would expect at a hotel. Listen, this is not the Ritz, but it is a nice place with a lot of room.
The kitchen was clean and stocked with utensils. We only had breakfast and some snacks in our room but we could have made dinner there, as well. There are charcoal grills nearby but you'd have to buy charcoal and possibly some grilling utensils. One thing: there are no spices in the units so if you are cooking, plan to bring everything.
The grounds were nice, well manicured and clean. We never went to the pool at the rec center but walked through and it looked ok, if not a little crowded. The rec center was a little busy with big families there for reunions, etc. but the activities they offered looked fun. We just never partook. We did play soccer in the field behind the rec center one afternoon and had fun. Tthere was a campfire that night but we went out to dinner and missed it.
We left the kids in the room one night (2 teenagers and a 10 year old), ordered pizza for them and gave them permission to walk down to the rec center if they wanted. They, instead, chose to play games and watch tv for the night. Three kids, Three TVs. Heaven. My wife and I spent the evening at the casino and had a nice time.
I would say that the "fitness center" was pretty disapointing. About as nice and big as your average Hampton Inn with many many more people staying there. That needs some work.
While in the area, we went to the waterpark at Camelbeach and highly reccomend that. We also went canoeing and kayaking on the Delaware River and had a ball. Bushkill Falls was fun but expensive for just hiking around. Nonetheless, we had fun.
Overall, the trip to the Pocono Mountain area was great. We relaxed and played and enjoyed our stay. I think much of the criticism on here may be directed at other parts of the resort or we have people with different expectations. For example, there are several complaints about the mini-golf course. We never played but did check it out and it looked like a normal vacation area mini-golf place. The price, even with the hotel guest discount, was about what you'd expect at any such vacation area. Do I wish it was included in the price of the hotel? Sure, but it's not (and it's not at most other hotels, etc.). It was not expensive, though.
We'd recomend staying here and would consider a return visit.
